Ron Leagas - One to One Executive Coaching
When I am coaching at my best, I feel a sense of ‘flow’ whereby I am both fully engaged and present with my coachee, yet detached, observing and conscious of his goals. This elusive state of Flow, as described by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi,is also what I believe produces optimum results for individuals and businesses.
Approach
It results from a combination of high 'challenge' or 'stimulus'
together with high support. I envision my role as compass bearer
and mirror holder. The compass points have goals and ambitions as
the North point, background and current reality as the centre and
South. To the East are psychological spiritual and interpersonal
factors, and, to the West, hard-headed business and political
considerations. I help my coachees navigate this ever changing
territory by holding an honest and unprejudiced mirror up to them,
encouraging deeper self awareness and emotional intelligence.
Philosophy
Most of my career has been inspired by the mantra 'Nothing is
impossible'. Self-limiting beliefs stand in the way of progress and
fulfilment, whilst unrealistic and ill-conceived goals can be
equally destructive. In today's business world I believe the
concept of work/life balance is not only elusive, it's illusory.
Boundaries between business and personal life are so porous that
the concept is better described as work/life integration. I believe
coaching has a major role to play in aligning the needs of business
with the needs of the individual, to the benefit of both.
Experience
From marketing graduate with Pfizer to CEO of Saatchi and
Saatchi in 15 thrilling years of growth including integrating
several acquisitions, public listing and working with global
clients and government on business and communications strategy.
Thereafter, until I re-trained as a coach, I have been a serial
entrepreneur launching, acquiring and selling several companies,
mainly in the CRM and Marcomms. industries
