Aims
Executive had a very successful career which had reached a
crossroads in deciding next steps both inside and outside the
company. Lack of clarity on future plans was a potential
distraction from current role.
The brief was to help put the next step in the context of a
longer-term plan for life and career and to develop an action plan
to reach that destination. This would enable both individual and
client company to make best use of talent and effect smooth
transition.
Action
A career transition programme was undertaken, using the book
'Building a Portfolio Career'. The
programme had four stages :

- Skills, experience and Special Talents, current work/life
balance and financial circumstances
Project forwards - where I want to get to
- Goals for work and life and role options
Plan - how will I get there
- The Portfolio Planner Grid, Transition issues : time and money
balance; impact on home and family; health and fitness; status and
identity, Building the skills for success : business planning;
networking; sales and marketing; time management
Implement - making it happen
- Setting up your own business, Monitoring progress to meet
goals, Marketing yourself and your business

role fits

- Eventually, a smooth transition to the new portfolio
career
